A woman (mother?) is wandering around a space she does not recognize. She is looking for the right place, she does not stay anywhere for long, her choices are alogical. The mother’s body divides into fragments, each of them taking a different direction. It becomes non-functional, contradictory, fragmented – a body in decay. Right next door, thousands of orphans roam, looking for their homes and mothers. A space where time has stopped. The sound whose density is like a sculpture. And finally, music that makes the whole body tremble. We significantly broaden the definition of a drum and guitar duo, mixing avant-garde music, post-rock, and dark ambient. We conduct an evocative narrative – from a sense of fear, isolation, through momentary calm, to moments of sound magic. Seeking mother was originally created as part of the dance show Manhattan directed and choreographed by Dominika Wiak and Daniela Komędera. However, we now have taken this sonic concept much further.
Surreal Voyagers
We have established our duo in 2018, performing under various ephemeral names until now. Having a classical contemporary ensemble as our staring point – Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble in Krakow – we have decided to form yet another, but this time rather free and spontaneous activity. Playing together over a dozen completely improvisedconcerts and over 20 screenings of silent films with our original music live, we were still continuing to explore repertoire of contemporary music, performing works by Matthew Shlomowitz, Fausto Romitelli or Alexander Schubert, at festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Sacrum Profanum, Audio Art. In 2019 we have created music for dance show Manhattan, perfoming it live and simultaneously appearing in it on stage. And further for the film Manhattan Interactive Movie. The performance was presented as part of the Polish Dance Network, the Polska Teatr program and during numerous dance festivals like Kalejdoskop or Body | Mind. Manhattan was qualified for the finals of the BestOFF competition. Basically we prefer partially improvised and composed mixture of conventions and genres, oscillating around Rock and Ambient. Seeking Mother is our first independent material, fully conceived as our debut album.
