Invitation to the Esja Music Festival!

What is This?
In Solsetrid, we aim to host a grand celebration of music. Over two days, six diverse artists will perform. Our goal is to let the river of sounds flow smoothly. Besides concerts, we’re organizing jam sessions where everyone can join and express themselves. There might also be workshop spaces available.

How It Happened?
My name is Piotr Hopcia, and music has been guiding me through life. There were days when everything seemed to fall apart, but music was always there for me.

I arrived in Solsetrid in October 2023. Since then, I’ve been living in this tribe, sharing my life with this place. From the start, I wanted to invite my music tribe family from Poland. Over time, the idea grew, and we began looking for other artists living in Iceland to join us in creating a bigger event, a true celebration of music.

Why Esja?
In Solsetrid, it feels like we’re all in the arms of ‘Mama Esja’. The farm lies just beneath this monumental mountain. I want this event to be one big “Thank You” to Esja for being such a massive inspiration.

How Much Does It Cost? The event is based on a free donation model. If you wish to support the place and the artists with a contribution, feel free to choose how much. If money is tight but you still want to come, please do come.

Who is Playing?

Mindfact

This project by Kaśka Paluch, who also created Noise From Iceland, focuses on exploring ambient techno and acid techno sounds. Using an analog synthesizer that imitates the famous TB-303, she creates unique compositions that blend these genres. The project is both a nod to nostalgia and an experiment with the classic “acid” sound.

Porost Formy nad Pleśnią

A music tribe-band from Poland. Our music emerges from gathering to dive into sound meditation, improvisation, and passing through the music that wants to be played by us. We attempted to create songs but we failed, ended up practicing listening and flowing together instead. We invite you to immerse yourself in sound meditation with us and discover the music that emerges.

Hypnopompous States

An ambient duo featuring Sébastien Nouat and Konrad Groen. Their ultimate goal is to guide the audience into hypnopompia*, the blissfully confused state between dream and reality. They replicate these conscious and subconscious loops of thought with loops of sound, blending synths, drums, guitars, clarinets, guttural singing, and other noises for an even more glorious experience.

Dabbi Togga

A singing guitarist, Davíð, explores various emotions through his performances, embodying a volcano of energy. He will be accompanied by Piotr on drums.

Krullan

A psychedelic rock band based in Reykjavik. We released our first album, Garden, on the winter solstice of 2023. Originating from Iceland, America, and Poland, we delve into mythology, culture, nature, and psychology through our music, which serves as a universal language for us. Our music is described as “sonic world-building,” aiming to immerse both ourselves and our audience in a universe of sounds and stories.

Hewkii

A guitar player and electronic music creator from Reykjavik. More information about this artist will be shared soon.
