Loren Chasse – Animal architecture

Loren Chasse – Animal architecture Anxious Magazine

For many years I’ve been wanting to create a sonorous fantasy in response to Karl von Frisch’s fascinating book “Animal Architecture”. Imagine an ear pressed to the carapaces, cocoons, nests, corals, the casings of mud…..discerning a music of this dimension’s materials and transmutations.

Sounds made using glass panel, wire/nylon brushes, 1930s era Decca victrola, sandpaper, shells, autoharp, electromagnetic fields, dried lichen, foghorn, paper, resonators, field recordings (Costa Rica, Crete, and Croatia) and melodion pump organ.
